What is stump removal?
Tree stump removal consists in mechanically shredding the stump of a tree, including the trunk that protrudes from the ground and the underground trunk that connects the roots to the base of the trunk.
Why stump a tree?
- There are several reasons why it’s a good idea to have your tree stump grubbed:
Insect Proliferation
Insects are attracted to tree stumps because they can find shelter and food there. One such insect is the carpenter ant, which may be attracted to the stump and then head for your home to cause structural damage.
Parasites and Unwanted Animals
The insects mentioned above are food for certain animals, including skunks, raccoons, and others. If your tree stump attracts insects, the insects in turn attract undesirable animals that will cause other harmful consequences.
Lost space!
The stump represents an obstacle and a loss of space on your property, so have it grubbed out to reclaim your space.
When to grub a tree?
The best time to remove a stump is in the summer, when there should be no accumulation of water or snow on the ground to allow access with mechanical equipment. If the ground is soft, the equipment could damage your property, which is undesirable.
How much does stump removal cost?
The cost of grubbing depends on several factors, including the size of the stump and its location. The larger the stump, the longer the job will take. Its location and accessibility are also essential. If the stump is close to the road, it will take less time to get there with the equipment, and less time to dispose of the chips we’ve generated. If we have to go through a narrow passage or several steps, the work will take longer to complete, and the price of grubbing will vary according to the obstacles and the time spent carrying out the work.
